Not a good first trip out in new boat

Took the boat out for a quick trip and test run since getting it. Well it was all good unit the prop decided that it didn't want to be attached to the motor anymore! Was going around 60mph when it happened, just heard the engine rev and the boat start to slow down. If I did hit something I didn't feel it at all.

Nope not at all! Good thing the trolling motor batteries had a good charge....took me an hour on the trolling motor to get to the closest landing.

I had a blade fly off one prop, no spare in the boat. I traveled a few miles north at idle with the motor shaking. A couple people saw my going uplake so slow out in the middle of the lake, so they came over to see what was the problem. So that passenger drove my boat to the nearest launch a couple miles away. The boat owner took me up to the north end of the lake and he went back to the boat launch while I drove the rig back south. I pulled into the ramp as my boat was getting to the dock. They sure saved my butt that day. I did have my spare prop in the truck. But can't do that with the shaft and prop missing.

    Warranty! That's great.

A month after I bought my 3rd bass boat the driveshaft broke at the lower unit gear, ruined the lower unit. Mercury warrantied it. We were at the n. end of Sammamish, 7 miles from the launch at the south end. A ways on the electric motor, then over to see if a guy was fishing a spot, then he towed us to the launch.

Looks like a stress failure rather than hitting something.

Snapped a prop shaft on my old boat twice, learned that when you get a lower unit replaced make sure to get an oem unit. I was 10ish miles away from where id put in and it was almost dark. Hopped on the trolling motor hoping to make it back to the nearest ramp where i could call somebody to come get me and take me to my truck so
i could come get the boat. Week night and probably not 2-3 other boats on the lake. My tm batteries started to die as i came within sight of the ramp (still close to a mile away). I see a boat fishing a bank across the lake and thank goodness he saw me. He ran over to ask if i needed help. He towed my boat to the nearest ramp where i thanked him. He asked where id put in so i told him and he said tgats where he put in, hed take me back to my truck. I leave my girlfriend (wife now) and best friend with the boat and he took me to my truck. Id fished against this guy for a few years but had never actually talked to him but i was thankful. Hes been my tourney partner the last few years and weve had a ton of success.
They aint got hands, set the hook
