    1998 150 EFI Rigging ?

    1998 Merc 150 EFI

    Serial # 0G624081 / Oil injection removed.

I am in the process of rigging my motor on a new hull. The previous motor was a Yamaha and I am replacing with my Merc 150. My question is I have a solid tan wire coming from the port head does this wire go to the overheat alarm? There is also a tan/blue wire from the starboard head that is built into the merc factory harness, does this connect to the temp gauge or is it the other way around?

    Thanks in advance.

It's the other way around. The solid tan wire on the port head is for a temp gauge. The tan/blue wire from the starboard head is for the overheat alarm.

    Thank you.

How could I test the alarm?

With the key on take a piece of wire and touch one side to a good ground and the other side to the terminal that the tan/blue stripe wire is tied down to. Should get a solid beep when you ground it out.
