    2011 ZX200 Speed Issues

Hey folks, I have a ZX200 with the 200SHO engine and i need some help on tweaking my boat. I have observed something kinda strange to me and need your input. I can run on glass slick water at 5200rpm at about 50-53-mph, the boat will not porpoise at all. If i increase the speed to 54-55mph at 54000-5800rpm i get a slow shallow porpoising. By shallow i mean the front raises up and down alittle to the point it is annoying. If i mess with the trim to get it to stop porpoising it lowers the rpm of course and fall below 53mph.. I have never been able to hit 60mph in my boat for some reason.

I have my pad to prop to about 3 to 3-1/4in or somewhere around there and my manual jackplate is on the 7th dot. When i got the boat it was on 5. Should i move my jack plate up or down? Any suggestions are welcomed, i have no clue on what to do.

You need to move the jackplate down, your losing leverage on the bow with the plate too high. The other way is to add some cup to your prop to help carry the bow better

I'd say to go down on the plate a little bit too.

Prop and pitch is too much pitch. Try and find a SHO 23T1.

You are slipping way too much for the 25T1, at 5800. More tip cup will reduce your rpms a bit but gain some speed back. If a 23T1 is too hard to find then go to a 25 Tempest. They run pitch for pitch with the 25T1 rpm wise when setup correctly, however, the point of where a Zx200 prop to pad is too high, where it causes the 25T1 to slip as the Tempest runs lower and will grab more water.

have had a couple...you should be kissing 66 or so when setup is right...

    my 2016 ZX225 is at 7 dots and kisses 70 w/full tank and T-load...regularly.
It did do 73 at break-in w/o that much weight...and Feb water temp

So would dropping the jackplate make the prop "grip or bite" more?

Im no Skeeter expert, but I agree, you need a 23p. The SHO likes rpm, get it closer to 6K and you will see better performance. It will also allow you to run the prop a bit deeper for grip (and even ad a bit of cup too for even more lift) and still turn good rpm.

Down will grip more water, but also reduce rpm. You may not gain speed, but not loosing speed and lower rpms mean less slip.

you are right in range of being maxed out. While there may be a handful of those in the perfect air temp etc that can get to 70 or better. 66-68 is the average.

2010 ZX 200 with the HPDI at 3000ft elevation in can hit 63 mph with the stock 25t prop at 5600 rpms with just me and low tanks. 64 mph at sea level with fully tournament load and two fat guys. I’d be at 65 to 66 solo.

Before you spend a buch of money on props have you checked compression and fire on all cylinders they may all have even compression but it still may be low or you could have a plug not firing or fouled out takes 20 minutes and it’s a lot cheaper than throwing props at it your tach may be off 300-400 rpms unless it is linked to your electronics or you have a computer hooked up at 5800 with a 25 pitch prop you should be low to mid 60’s
