    Removed my lower unit to replace impeller....

    found a spring that is about the size and shape of my wedding ring loose around the bottom of the shaft. Does that mean my upper seal is bad or did it just slip off?

    Does anyone know the name of that spring?

    It is the lower crankshaft tension spring. It is not leaking oil
