    Converting to fiberglass fenders

I need opinions. I bent the front lip on my right fender by falling off of a boat ramp. I had thought of a few fixes for this but now I am contemplating converting to fiberglass fenders instead. Has any converted theirs? Since my trailer has painted steel fenders, would I by chance be able to install the fiberglass over the steel?

I’m of the opinion that fiberglass fenders are great to look at, but that’s the bulk of it. I don’t like the flex when climbing on them. If you think you damaged the steel one, just think about what a glass one would look like right now. Tire blowouts are also very tough on a glass fender and they are also expensive to repair.

THIS^^^. Take your bent fender off and have a body shop repair it.

Stick with metal. Rock chips, tire blowouts, people using top of fiberglass as steps. I repainted my tube trailer last year. Sandblasted, epoxy primer, marine epoxy paint three coats. When fenders need new paint. I can sandblast dual axle fenders 30 mins per side Can weld if necessary. For me decision was simple, easiesr to repair and cheaper cost.
Also remember that people backing into trailers at Boat Ramps and Then filing ins. Claims.
