    Cleaning cork

What should I use to clean my cork handles? I just bought a new megabass destroyer, and some U40 cork sealer to put on it when I take the plastic off. How should I clean my old rods before I seal them?

Dawn dish soap and warm water and a toothbrush or similar type bristled brush.

I use hot Dawn & water, if they're particularly nasty, Comet and a scrub brush too. Many manufacturers use cheaper cork and fill in the imperfections with (filler) which can fall out. Some liquid wood fillers can re-fill those holes and be sanded to renew the shape and appearance. I would not sand a rod to clean it.

I just use 220 grit foam sanding blocks to clean cork, same ones I use to finish a new handle.

Dawn for light to medium staining, soft scrub for heavy.

None of the rods are very dirty. What do I apply the U40 with? A small paint brush?

Any soft cloth that doesn't leave lint. I usually just use my fingers, it cleans up easily with the dawn soap.

Simple green and magic erasers. Cork seal once clean and dry.

Magic Eraser is the best and fastest way to clean cork. Other things work but nothing as good and simple as the ME
