    Frequency question

I frequently operate my side scanning and down scanning simultaneously. What frequencies do most of you use while operating both scanning sonars together? Currently I’m set up with 800 MHz down and 455 side scanning. Any information describing the advantages and disadvantages to the frequencies would be helpful.

800 advantage includes more detail, but at shorter ranges.

    455 reverses that.

I alternate depending on what I want to see

At this time, 800 on sv and 455 on dv. Above stated advantages are supposed to be the deal. I'm not always sure. I go back and forth some days, change palettes and contrast according to the conditions of the day. Yesterday I probably had the best sv and dv returns I can remember. I'm never in water deeper than 25 ft. I really don't know where the greater depth/longer range guidelines or limitations may be for the recommended freqs.. I just play around until I like it.

With SI I use 455 for large area search ; 800 for narrow area detail. i swap back and fourth as needed also..
