I could use some help

I have owned this 1197c for several years now. I have never been able to get the SI dialed in and to be honest have been to embarrassed to ask for help. Well here I am " I need help." I have watched most of Doug's videos tried adjusting this and that. Without much success. I am sure it's something simple. This is what I got

The transducer may be installed too high.I have a Nitro and have the transducers mounted on the bottom step,where drain plug is.See you have a ranger so I could be wrong.I'm sure you will get some help from a member that has a ranger or knows about transducer placement.

Unless you're in search mode, try reducing the range scale to 4-5 times the depth. Then adjust brightness and contrast. That brush shown in the first image should show up.

So I am in 11' of water adjust side Distance to 44 or 55 ' and then adjust the contrast and brightness. I will not be by a co in boat till Friday. Headed to Sugar Lake in Mexico for 2 days. Will report back then. At the time I installed the transducer I showed pics and the consensus was that it was good. But can move if it needs to be.

My 1197 performs better with 6.310 or earlier ...

Anything after 6.310 created this ...which makes structure (especially brush) difficult to discern in the SI image..



If you're using a newer version - activate the cursor and open the zoom box on any vertical line in the SI image to see if your 1197 has the zigzag effect of newer software for that model ...

I have the 5.84 version of I remember correctly when I updated the software I started having some problems so i went back.

If my units work fine I never install a update they always screw the unit up.

I don't think it was mentioned ... but match Chart speed to boat speed ...

So I had updated the software years ago but it messed it up. So I went back 5.84. Was reading thru some other old post and saw were you were suppose to reset defaults after the rollback. I did and it made a difference. Thanks everyone.

6.310 is also a good release ..... I don't remember what the enhancements are compared to 5.84. PM me if you want to try that release, I can get it to you.
