Started today like the starter pops very loud and then disengages... Out of say 15 starts it popped out at lease 4 times.. Still looks to me like the starter needs to be closer to the flywheel but it has no adjustment

Went today... It kicks out about 50% of the time now... Teeth are just grinding off.

If its kicking out 50% of the time, then it appears to me that the Bendix gear is not always going to the top of its stroke, when engaging the flywheel.

The starter could be intermittently spinning slower, check battery, and starter amperage.
Bendix gear is hanging up, intermittently.

I would take the starter to a reputable Automotive Alternator/Starter rebuilder for evaluation, and replace the flywheel.

Yeah.. That's what I'm gonna have to do... That flywheel is expensive though.. Where's the best place to get a flywheel?

flywheel was oem . think 500$ starter wasnt oem. think 175$ after this i dont think oem matters. it never should have happened.
its an easy fix with puller and impact
