Good point, Ill tell you which ones I tried that I didnt like. Lews, BPS, and TDZ... they worked but if trying to cast into the wind or bomb it really far they proved very frustrating, had to be perfect and very careful not to backlash.

You're going to get a ton of responses that will only confuse you. If you have trouble casting a jerkbait, get a new jerkbait.
You really need a high speed reel (7+.1), and 10-12lb fluoro. Rods will vary, but I prefer a 6'9 MH Duckett (which is basically a medium).
KVD has some good YouTube vids on jerkbait fishing, check them out.

This is the rod I am getting for jerkbaits. Gets lots of great reviews for throwing jerkbaits.

I use a Dobyns Champion 704cb and 705cb. I like the 704cb for Vision 110, and Husky Jerks. I like the 705cb for L.C. Pointer 100's. The Pointers are slightly heavier and cast a little better. Both rods are pretty good for jerk baits very slight difference in backbone between the two rods. I also like to throw wiggle warts on the 704cb, and will use the 705cb for square bills and some small topwater stuff. The 705cb might be a little light to some people for square bills, especially around thicker cover so I will use a 705 cb glass around heavier cover.
