    482v jack plate setup

I purchased a 1992 Ranger 482v with a Mercury 2.5L XRi, same year. The boat came with a Mercury Para Lift jack plate. Although the Para Lift works (I know, don't fix what ain't broke!), I'm replacing it with an Atlas 6" hydraulic jack plate. What I would like to know, is what hole position, on the MOTOR (upper, center, lower), is recommended for installing to the PLATE? The prop currently installed is a Trophy Plus, 48-825940 24P, and a Quicksilver Laser II, 48-16548 A41 23P as a spare. I have yet to run the Laser. I also have a Quicksilver "Chopper" prop, 48 13370 A5 26P that came with the boat, not sure what to do with that one. I'll have an opportunity to test the installation sometime this week...if the winds would calm down some! Any help with setup and/or prop selection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bill

I had a 94 482v with a 6" manual plate. It had at merc xr6 150 on it. I found my best spot was 3 1/4"-3 1/2" below pad. I ran a 23p tempest plus. Great hole shot and performance. Would run around 60 depending on load and time of year. I mounted my motor to the plate in the middle hole. Just make sure your steering clears your plate when fully trimmed up.

Thank you Lodge06, I'll take your recommendation. Installing the plate this morning.
