What's the bass bite like on Patoka now?
What's the bass bite like on Patoka now?
Fished for 4 hours Thursday and had 1 keeper and 1 short. Never saw any shad or bird activity. I hear the walleye are biting, so maybe I can figure out a way to convert my power poles into downriggers.

I’ve fished it off and on all week , four keepers and a handful of short fish.....I’ve only found one area that remotely shows signs of shad balls with bass around them....
Water temps in the LOW 50's on Sunday, saw some bait fish. Caught a couple (3.7 Large mouth & 3.0 Smally) One on top water. Walking a stick type bait. Caught a few on plastics (dinks). Everything was tight on the wood. Be it a lone stump off shore or single lay down.
I got into the hybrids today, on spinning gear......had a ball!
Has anyone recently done any good on Patoka? I’m planning on going out tomorrow.....
BOB, you are so lucky to have that lake in your backyard. Let us know how you did

I'd personally love living by it. Know it is tough, but I enjoy fishing it. Salamonie and mississewa are both harder to catch fish on, and I still fish them.
I agree Joe, I'd like to live down there too.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
I understand what you mean Robert. I live 30 minutes from Brookville Lake. Many times it gets very frustrating too. I have fished it since 1978. You'd think I could go out there and find fish regularly by now, but it sure doesn't pan out that way. I do catch fish there but surely not on a regular basis.

Missy and Salamonie are same way for tournaments.. One week everyone has limits, the next maybe 2 limits. Hell some take two fish to win.
Between shad moving and fishing pressure they get tough. All I know is I catch better fish at patoka, and can't remember the last time I didn't catch some on a trip there. Sure I wouldn't win many tournaments, but catch fish. And weekend pressure is less because it is bigger.
Come on up here for a week and you'll miss patoka.
