    2018 Pro XS Performance

I heard from my dealer today that the new 250 Pro XS is a little slower, like down on power compared to previous years. He states that he has talked to Merc about it and they did not change anything. Anybody else heard or experienced this?

Heard it from both a Ranger dealer and a boat builder. I hope Merc didn't detune the engines for the EPA. Looking to buy a new boat and trying to figure out my engine choice.

Do a search on this. Same questions get asked every year. From what I understand there is no change since Merc changed to the Gen 2 Torquemaster LU about 5 yrs ago (rough estimate on date/timing). I think with what they have coming and been working on, the ProXS series has been left alone recently.

I'm confident that the motor is no different than the last 5 model years.

    Just another rumor.

Maybe the gas is just crappier, resulting in less power?

Maybe like everyone else he's adding more and more weight to the boat load we expect the motor to carry. A ten or twelve inch screen maybe two setting on the front catching wind along with a 36 volt trolling motor and 4 31 series batteries in the rear with two power poles and still expecting the same speed is asking a little too much.

An ultrex is a speed killer as well, but worth it to me.

I probably didn't get to drive it much else to compare it.... 88.2 with the Ultrex is good tho lol. I'm sure I'll be in the 90's with my 30 Promax.

I bet if you take the Ultrex OFF you'll run your highest speed.....and even faster if you take the trolling motor batteries out too !

I probably could.. have it on a bracket... honestly it drives better with it... without it the holeshot sux and it dips to the right at speed.. I could take it off and add some weight i guess. Getting into the 90's though with it and i'll be happy i think lol
