    25 HP prop questions

The boat - g3 1756dlx 2004 model. Two 27 series batts aft. 21 gallon fuel tank, aft. I added two storage lockers and a rod locker. All the framing, and three lids are aluminum. Decking for the add-ons is advantech ¾". Starting batt in front of livewell, in front of console. All gear stored in storage lockers.

    The engine - 25elrr. 1993 Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke. No power tilt/trim.

The current prop - if I'm reading the #'s correctly, 9 ⅞ x 11 ¼. Their just about unreadable. Do these #'s sound correct? This is the prop that came with the engine. It could use some work.

According to the tachometer, I'm running 3800-4000rpm, at wot. I added the tach, hopefully it's right. Speed, 22.5mph, according to Navionics app on my phone.

    What size would you recommend?
    What material?
    Three or four blades?

    Thank you

Wow, thank you for the prompt response! Same diameter? Is going to stainless the same as going down in pitch? Isn't that what I need to do to raise the rpm?

Yes, going down in pitch raises RPM, so try a 10P if you believe your tach readings.

    Why a 3 blade vs 4 blade?

They are easier to turn on small HP motors.

A local dealer has a couple 9⅞*9 aluminum props. I bought one. Tried it yesterday. Got the rpm up to 4400. Hole shot and bow lift much better.
Not sure if I'm going to get the rpm any higher?
I'm wondering if I should get a portable tach, to verify what mines reading, before doing anything else.
