    Carcal rod tubes?

Anyone with a caracal decide to add 5 more tubes in the front half? My rear grid has stowage for 15 butts but only 10 tubes. Thinking about getting more tubes and a cutting board to make room...

BCB, why was it designed this way? Is there room to create such a thing? Or does the bottom of the boat interfere with more tubes?

I took the tubes out much easier to get rods in and out now, As far as where to put the other 5 rods there is room under the tubes to put those rods.

It is designed so there are no restrictions when running rods below the organizer.

I've tried to floss rods below the organizer. Ill have to look up in there again. Last I checked there was a piece of foam or something preventing me from pushing rods below the tubes in that smaller area.

sigep1967, you have 15 rods in yours without issues? Thinking I can probably squish some of my spinning rods down in the bottom. Maybe its the rod tube ends pushing on the rods I'm sliding below the organizer that I'm feeling. Ill take the tubes out and see how that works. Good advice.

My spinning rods fit in the lower area nicely. For me I like it this way.

I agree, I have got to start being a little more careful getting rods in and out of the box though.

The front tube holder should have an open slot below the two rows of tubes, allowing for the tips to be inserted. There should be a piece of carpet up there as well.

I use rod sleeves/socks I think I have 18-19 in there would have to count. to me it is much easier to get the rods in and out without the rod tubes. I have not pulled out the back rack but do not use it either if I pulled it out would be even easier to remove the rod you wanted.

You can put more then one rod tip inside a single tube when using rod sleeves. I often do that in my starboard rod locker in my Puma by laying a few rods on the shelf of the rod holder in my puma. I actually installed a rubber rod strap on top of the shelf to hold the rods in place. It works well with the rod buts on the shelf and the tips sharing a rod tube. So my guess is you can fit all fifteen rods in the current holders by doubling some in the tubes.

I found some more info on the rod tube holder, someone in the past had an issue on the bcb forum. I can't get the link to post. But they had to cut out a small section of the rear rod tube holder. I did the same. It took about 10 min and I re routed my cup holder drain at the bow, it was run into my rod box.
