520vx. Not fast but it was a tank. More stable than today's platforms.

I don't have a lot of experience in different boats, but I get told every time I'm on the water that someone used to have a boat like mine and wish they would have never sold it. Best Ranger they ever had. 2008 Z520 Ranger Cup Anniversary Edition.

I like the 621FS. If I get into two feet of water I can get out and walk. That being said I have driven a Yukon XL for 20 years and would own a tank if they let me.

I went from a 2001 520 to Z21's to Z521... To me, the 21's all rode way better than my 520. All of them fish really well.

2002 520dvx : Solid fishing platform. Not that great in rough water.
2013 521vx : Good fishing platform. Good in the rough stuff.
2016 522d : Rock solid fishing platform. Runs through true Great lakes 4 footers without much problem.
1991 482v : Even though it was only an 18' boat the 482 Fished great and could be taken thru anything.

I'm with the guy with the 621 vs. I have a 620 vs and hands down best ride I have ever been in. With that said, it is not apples to apples.

I would take a 521 over a Z21 every day forever. Same goes for 520 over Z20. As for the newer 520s vs the old ones, I think the improvements in speed and rough water ride on the new hull are worth a minor, almost negligible, loss to "stability". I can't say I have been in a new 521 so others would have to chime in, but generally I would assume it is the same as the 520, only longer.

Ranger dog I have a 522DVX with a 250 pro xb and would not sell it for anything, large front fishing deck, plenty of room for all my gear, best boat I have owned except for the fuel bill it's killing me.

The new 521 is pretty amazing, I could not be happier with mine. Deck like an aircraft carrier and crazy stable. Mine planes very quickly and one of the most important elements to me is it sits level in the water. I had a 488VS and it was an excellent hull as well, just no where near the real estate of the new 521s

I would also add that for some reason it seems like the z521c(2014 and newer) boat has a dryer ride than the prior z521 had. I personally love the 21 footers.
