    Fender Rivets

Some of the rivets have broken that hold down the diamond plating on my fenders. Any suggestions on how to replace? Drill them out and replace with bolts (if so any recommendations?) or just install new rivets? Thanks

I would drill all of em out and insert small stainless bolts and lock nuts.

Just make sure you use the opportunity to clean any corrosion that has formed under the diamond plate. Then run a bead of some kind of good waterproof sealant or RTV around the edge of the diamond plate and fill the rivet holes with the same prior to installing the new rivets. This will make it much more waterproof than it was before.

I'd drill them all out and countersink the holes so one could use small flathead stainless fasteners.

That is a god idea, thanks for suggesting that. I was only going to replace the damaged ones originally. I will remove the entire section and get it cleaned up. Thanks.

Looks like there is more then one way I can close them back up, I appreciate the input from everyone.

also you can put a heavy bead of silicone under the diamond plate and it will help with rattling noise later.

I put a several strips of vinyl wall base under mine to keep the rattling down.
