    Trailer Inspection - Chesterfield

Inspection is coming due on my trailer - who in the Chesterfield area does these inspections? Last year I took it to the truck stop in Amelia. Don't want to drive it that far if I can help it!

Just make sure before you go for inspection you check your lights. Most importantly your brakes, fluid, pads and bearings. Jack up trailer and grab wheel at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position and see If wheel had any play indicating bearing wear or failure. Just good to do your own pre inspection. Furthermore good to do every 2 months.

Probably a stupid question, are boat trailers required to be inspected in VA similar to cars?

If they have brakes, they must be inspected.

Thanks! I guess that I better go and find a place that does them around the Hampton Roads area.

Besides getting a ticket for no inspection sticker and you have a wreck and it is and/or not your fault, a lawyer will use that to his advantage.

How often do they have to be inspected? This is the first I have heard of this. Just another good reason to get the ____ out of here.

The inspection stations I frequent for my truck will "inspect" it but they have no way to test the surge brakes. That makes it a $16.00 trailer light inspection...........

They are supposed to pull the safety pin and be sure that brakes activate.
