    2017 Annual Rut Report

Guys, lets update one another on how the deer movement is going.

    I hunt in Kansas.

October 28th, first sit 27 degrees, morning hunt, I saw 20 does, not a single buck.

October 29th, second sit, evening hunt....had a shot at a trophy armadillo. temps were 70 degrees...no deer movement for me.

Middle TN, haven't seen any of the bucks we were getting pics of in Sept. Don't Kno where they've gone. Seen a couple does and the wife seen a spike tailing a doe but that's it.

The little bucks on my place in Lawrence and Wayne county Tennessee are harrassing the does like crazy but they don't know what they're trying to do just yet...sparring with each other grunting and carrying on.. Today it's 69 degrees slight breeze.. 4 does in the food plot this evening... Still got a ways to go... So many acorns in the woods it's a crap shoot trying to place a stand.. Seen one good buck this bow season and he seen me as I was getting this crossbow up on him...I can't stand this thing...

I shot an 8pointer chasing a doe yesterday, after that another 8 came through on same trail, then a 9 came through. Lots of scrapes cleaned out and good cool weather here in southern Indiana.

I shot a 9Pt Sunday. Was watching a 3 does and a basket 8 and blew my grunt call and the 9 came running at the 8. They started posturing, walking head down and sideways fixing to spar. If I would have let that happen, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to shoot the 9. It would have made a great video if I had a camera though. The 9 had a split brow tine too.

Tons of scrapes and buck activity on camera... Got several sparring pics on camera.. I've got a ton of bucks on my place this year... Just haven't seen a number of decent bucks this year... But more than I can count 14 and 15 inch bucks are growing...

Had a date with my treestand planned for this morning. Woke up and hobbled out of bed, at what age does one realize they can't do what they did at age 25? Going to the chiropractor this morning and hopefully able to hunt hard this weekend and all next week. Buddy shot a whopper yesterday with a doe.

First morning hunt with CVA and was teased severely by a really good 7 point buck working over a scrape line...I tried all I could do to put that 8th point on him... Need to work on my Jedi skills cause I couldn't make it grow thru them binoculars.. He had another small deer with him he kept pushing away.. So far this afternoon I've seen nothing on the clover food plot..

Hot and wet here. The rut slowed with the heat.

I found a bunch of fresh rubs and scrapes on our farm this weekend. Had a 5 point and 6 point come in to some grunting early yesterday morning. They were both trailing a doe when I first saw them.
