    HDSI mounting location Ranger 482V

    Hi All,

I have been searching for a concrete answer as to where the best mounting location will be on the transom of my Ranger 482V. I have the in-hull transducer for dual beam sonar which will show my depth at speed but I need to determine where to mount the HDSI transducer on the transom for SI and DI when at slower speeds and idling around. The pictures below show my transom. I am hoping that someone on this board has a 482 or 481V without a Jack Plate and can show me where their HDSI transducer is mounted. Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

Under either transom step or on the vertical of the second step. Either will give you side clearance for the SI pulses that you won't have on the transom where the motor is attached.

Ok, Thanks for the reply. I am trying to figure out how to mount it to the underside of the step using the mount that I have. I would like to either mount it on the underside of a step or on the vertical surface of the middle step.

For the underside, you would need the Transducer Shield and Saver TM-HDsi since the factory mount is not flexible enough for that application without making some sort of angled spacer. I have that setup on my Tracker.

Vertically no issue on the same surface that the speedometer hose clamp is attached to.

Center it on the transom so hull lean (left or right depending on the load) will have less impact on the images.

No, the transducer is out of the water when on plane.
