I had an old hydro 27, it was the smaller barrel 4 blade that I ran on several different boats. It was always my favorite prop on my Allisons and Bullets. I sold it when I went to a saltwater boat. It was the best driving prop I ever ran and the only prop that ran faster on my 20' set ups was a Merc ET.

A friend of mine that has slung more blades than any person I've ever met, no exaggeration, still says hydros are the way to go.

As for the cracking, Todd said there has to be something in the harmonics disturbing the water flow to the prop. After I removed the LSS2 transducer from the bottom of the skid planer i stopped cracking props.
    Interestingl.

A good 30p hydro q4xob should run 93.3/93.5 at 6250/6350 with a 300xs/1.75 gear. This works out to be 8 to 9% slip. This is what my rig runs going fishing with gas, troller and ped seats solo. A 32 uncut P4 is faster at 5900/6000. I can't speak to the Promax.

A 30 xob should be all over the limiter with 1.75s IMO....at least when compared to my boat. I have spun my 30 xob to 6100-6200 at 99.0 solo with a tournament load.

I guess what I was trying to say it should run faster than 90. I can put it on the limiter but try to stay off of it. When I was testing a couple of years ago I found the 1.62 case to be between 2-3 mph faster with the same set up. Not trying to compare just adding input to a good conversation. My rig has been much faster but not set up to fish.

You have that down perfectly. I ran a 30 XOB 92.5 @ 6200 back in August.

This was last Friday in the afternoon, I only have about 3 miles from start to finish then the water gets real hard. I have found that wot rpm will very depending on how fast I run the trim up.

Have not data logged a Pro ET but ran a 30 and a 32 that were worked pretty good. The 30 was a rocket to 91.1 on the limiter (6200) with my 250/1.75 combo the 32 was a good bit slower holeshot and acceleration as well. Ran it 92.2 @ 5800ish. I want to data log the 30 if the chance arises (borrowed prop) it seemed to have a quicker holeshot than my 30 Promax and then both felt even from that point as I ran them back to back. This was ran last March and I have found 2.1 mph on my Promax here recently which I would assume would hold true with the Pro ET as well.

I've had my 30 since 2008. It's my solo fishing prop with the 1.75's.

I run a 30 hydro on my bullet 21ss/300xs dbr1.3 with 1.75 gears, with 2 people it will run 92 to 93 at 6000 to 6050.I have never played with motor height with the hydro,I run it for my fishing prop because the holeshot is so much better than the promax.
