I second the heavy metal jigs. They're so much more sensitive than a lead jig that it takes a couple trips out to get used to them. I set the hook on air a few times before I got use to them. You can also go down in size versus lead too. He will also make custom colors for you in whatever size which is really nice. They're the only football jig I've been using the past 3 or 4 months and I just bought almost $200 more of them

I make all of my own jigs so I can get the performance and colors that I want.

Keitech Jigs are the deal for me. It is a tinier hook, but the way this skirt flares when it sits on the bottom is hard to beat. Smaller profile jigs that I use just about year around from April- November in New England. Flipped, swam, creeped, that casting jig does it all.

I primarily use jigs from two different companies, Gambler Lures and Boss Outdoors. I also do a lot of skirt customization and these two companies cater to that need as well.

Gambler Lures Ninja Jig - both the Flipping and Casting Jig

Gambler Lures Southern Swim Jig - I use this version in more open water (killer on TN River ledges)

I know I already answered this thread but I have another response. While I am a firm believer in the effectiveness of the Punisher Jigs, anymore lately in most situations I am more apt to go to with a punch rig instead. Even if I am not punching, using a flipping weight with the built in skirt collar I am finding has several benefits over flipping a jig.

    - Far less likely to hang up on grass, wood, rocks or other forms of cover.
    - Having the option to peg or not peg the weight allows for more options of presentation action.
    - You can literally pair this up with just about any hook you prefer to use.
    - The knot is more protected from obstructions.
    - You don’t need to tie on a new bait to change things up. Switching skirts and trailers is pretty quick and easy.
    - If the hook becomes worn or broken etc, unlike jigs the rig isn’t useless you simply tie on a new hook.

I am sure there are other reasons but the main ones for me is that I get hung up less and I think I get more bites with a more fluid “slithering” like action (hence the name for Strike King’s variation of this rig). Most the time I am Texas rigging or punching without a skirt anyways. But sometimes that extra bit of flair with the skirt brings in a kicker.

As for Brand no preference really so long as it has the weight and profile I am looking for. So I will often look for prices that are the best bang for my buck. Because I will doctor up the weight with an insert anyways if it doesn't already have one.

Seems like most colors and sizes are "unavailable" at this time. When is the best time to order them or will they make them up for you if you place an order?
