Cleaning off the white mineral build up off a motor

My buddy told me he uses standard jell toilet bowl cleaner. I live in Arizona and the lakes here have very hard water so my Merc gets constant white build up. I went to the store and bought some.

I watered it down a little so I could spray it from a spray bottle. I could not believe how fast it melts the white away. I actually used it on my whole boat. I've now used it a couple of times and it is safe on the paint and gel coat.

It really makes it shine. Just wear some rubber gloves as the stuff does burn your skin a little. Try it you won't believe how good it works for 2 bucks.

I’m sure it works great, just remember gel is porous and would need wax or sealer after each use of the acidic product.

Peregrine 250 makes a product called water dog. this stuff is amazing. It will remove water spots and calcium build up with ease. Even if the build up has been there for years.

We have semi-hard water here in the Ozarks. 50/50 mix of Vinegar and Rainex Windsheild Washer Fluid in a spray bottle makes for an effective solution that keeps the shine.

I use just the standard 50/50 vinegar water mix and took all mine off. Had to let it set awhile the previous owner did not clean it very well. Waxed it and now I just use hot sauce and no problems.

Cheap and effective/ CLR 50/50 with distilled or soft water. Spray on gently wipe with rag or sponge. Rinse off.
