how much can they take off a tempest plus?

a buddy has a 26p tempest plus, and that is without doubt to much for his boat can they make that into a 25? or a 24.5?

A good prop guy will change it one inch in pitch but some will take more. How many rpm's can he turn it at WOT now or does it just need more venting on take off?

If you trade or buy the 26" tempest I'd run it before I did anything to it after I added the plate. If you both have the same boat and motor he should be able to turn a 26 within 200 rpm's of what you turn a 25 not 400 less unless something is wrong with the prop or his motor. I'd borrow it from him and run it before I bought it just to see how it ran as most 26 tempest don't run very well with out some work out of the box. What elevation are you running at when you get 5700?

You and your Buddy both need 24P Props....not 26P.

Yeah we both need to pull motors up but can't and run the waves we have up here, 1500' elevation. Budy has 4 graphs and to much gear. I break 70mph most days so 25 isn't my issue. Also my tack shows 5950ish "analog" but hours print out shows otherwise I have see 6100 on my tack at 76.2 gps when I was about out of fuel

If your actually getting 76.2 with the 25" tempest at 6000 rpm's lite your right where you want to be with that prop. How fast are you going when the tach reads 5700 loaded? I wouldn't reduce pitch on either prop until I got the hydraulic plate because things will change when you can move that motor up and down.

Yeah tack is normally up near 5900 for me at 69-71 with partner and normal load. Like I first said my boats not the issue and I plan on a hydro, buddy isn't worried about top end but he was a little twisted up thinking a 26 had better out of the hole over 25... reason I asked was to rework his prop is cheaper than a new prop, I can probally turn his 26 if I turn it to 25.5 and hydro plate. And the next thing is I just checked hours and I have less than 3 above 5700, tack normally reads nearly 6... and I know I have made 45 minute loops more than once all above 70 mph while just out for a rip( straight driving burning fuel not slowing down) and I'm not going to spend the cash on smartcraft

I asked how many rpm's and how many mph you are going at WOT to get some idea of how far off your tach might be. Do you back off the throttle when it gets to 6000 on the tach or keep going until the alarm goes off? 5700 with a good 25" prop will get you 72. If you run in rough water a lot you may be better off with a Bravo xs on your boat.

Never heard and alarm and never lost speed when it's light in cooler air it will go to 76.2 for a mile straight, no soft limiter. In the crappy pic I posted the tach is just at 6k and 74.0 mph in the top left of sonar
