Dont blame you one bit. I always ran birds. Partner talked me into staying with/upgrading the Lowrance that came with my new to me boat this year. Nothing but issues every since.

Lowrance has falling behind much like Motorguide. Since I've got the Ultrex the HB Solix units will be very good and no more map issues. Navionics isnt what it used to be and I decided to make the switch.

It's pretty neat. I use that feature more than I thought I would.

To operate an Ultrex with a depthfinder, you must have LakeMaster. I've literally been doing a side by side comparison for the past few months. LakeMaster currently has more detail and better coverage than Navionics.

Get Lake Master chips for the Birds and make them shine. You won't regret it

You will still need to put the correct antenna for map issues, particularly to stop the maps from spinning. If you use internal antenna or the external without a compass the maps will spin. Be sure you put down imaging up front, it’s like taking a photograph of what is below you. The mapping on every lake is different and I have no idea about Ivie, but I’ve found lakemaster to be much better on Toledo Bend. There are some places where Navionics is very good and other places where it is less than pathetic as you saw when you were here recently. That’s why I have one of each at the console and you might consider that.

Absolute will have Lake master, I'm done with Navionics. It's not bad here at Ivie or other lake we fish as far as contours but where I've noticed its off is on house foundations and road beds. For instance at Falcon there are a couple of foundations that are not even close to where they are marked on the map. One road bed here at Ivie is 100yds off and I keep them updated and for the lakes around here I've seen no difference at all. I think it was just time for me to try something new.

Charlie, I'm tossed around the idea of the 360 on the trolling motor.

Chance, if you get the Lakemaster chips, also get the Contour Elite software. You can search for types of contours, structure & cover of the lake you are at on your laptop, then move the waypoints to your HBs

I've got a friend who has the 360 but never fished out of his boat so I'm not sure about it.
