I have ordered two Allison's and spent a lot of time talking with Nancy concerning options. I do not remember the exact reasoning but I do remember she was very adamant that Darris would not build another black hull. Best I recall the dark colors wanted to warp------------ As I said above --in 2006 Nancy told me she had to do some (talking) to get my yellow hull. .. But I don't think that the yellow was due to the heat retention. At that time he was not building red hulls either..
Maybe Lee will stop in and elaborate.
In my world black or red vehicles are the prettiest when clean-- but the absolute hardest to keep clean.
You pretty much summed up what Darris has always stated about an all black hull or deck Mike.
As we all know, black certainly gets a lot hotter, Darris says that with the lay up that they use the extreme heat will show print through and cause visual problems in a short amount of time. Nothing structural, just cosmetic.
I just picked this one up a couple months ago and to my knowledge this is the darkest hull Allison has ever built with the exception of the black and blue hull xb21 mentioned earlier.
The entire hull is charcoal grey with black on the sides and console and Bahama blue wingtips.
Sorry fellas I can not figure out how to add pictures here.
Thanks fellas! This was built in '95 so im not sure if they would do that combo again but im sure for the right amount of money anything can be done lol. I know they just built an xb-21 that was solid charcoal with red where mine is black.
