This is a huge loss for us here in Canada. I watched the final concert on tv live. There was 11 million viewers and entire towns had shutdown streets to have outdoor viewing parties. I've listened to them since I was like 12 years old. The music is so full of meaning. When I was younger it was all about just turning it up loud, partying and drinking to it but as I got older and listened to every lyric you can hear a story in every song. There is radio stations here now that have stopped all regular programming and are playing the "Hip" non stop until Monday. If any of you haven't listened to their music before just check out YouTube and listen to some of them. Most of you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Fishmaster, I couldn't agree more and I am so glad I dvrd the concert. I grew up across the river from Sarnia, their music has been a part of my life for many many years. It amazes me how many people have never heard of them. I too stongly urge people to give a listen. He was also one of the best concert performers I have ever seen. Sad day for sure. The only solace in all of this for us fans is we knew it was coming. Gone way too soon!

Heres a song written about Al's hometown. This is just a small example of their music.

Incredible loss. Tragically Hip music was synonymous with summer, Ontario cottage country and good times. A very talented man is gone way too early.

Very sad. I became a big tragically hip fan in college playing on a hockey team that was half Canadians.

Very sad. I enjoyed the Hip's music; a unique sound, and a real piece of Canadiana.

Very Canadiana....the songs have great meaning and are a part of our culture. Final concert in Kingston had 11 million viewers....that's about 1/2 of our adult population.

The Hip are iconic for sure.
