    Onboard charger recommendation

Appears I will be in the market for a new charger. Current is a charging systems intl 3 bank pro 30amp, called them but they said they don't refurbish unit older than 1998. Seem the charger is older than boat. Pulled out all the batteries charged them fully, reinstalled same type reading on charger.

So I have been looking and reading, noco 3 bank 30amp seems well reviewed. Cables has a sale on their brand $160 for a 3 bank 20 amp.

Appreciate any recommendations, thx in advance.

10A or 15A per bank is the best choice. I'm not a NOCO fan because of problems I've had with them, including screwing me over on a warranty issue and seeing other people report TM interference caused by poor isolation of the batteries after the NOCO was installed. The Cabela's brand will work, but people have reliability issues with them. Dual Pro is probably the best choice, and since your previous one apparently lasted more than 20 years that would probably seal the deal with me.

That is a testament for reliability and longevity. I would stick with DP.

They could tell me age for sure even with the serial number. Strange that it is older than the boat. Looks like the 3 bank 30amp is $330

What charger should I see on batteries when fully charger to determine if battery is good or bad?

Depends on what battery you have.

You should see 12.65V 6 or 8 hours after the charger is turned off. A little over 13V with the charger on and the batteries at full charge. 14.7V or so with the batteries partially charged, though this varies with the vintage of the charger and how far along the batteries are in the charging process.

Yes, that would be the Dual Pro Sportmens Series with Delta Volt, a good choice. Call John at Jones Trolling Motor Service, a board sponsor here and one of the moderators on this electrical forum who dedicates a lot of time and energy to help us. It's important to support our sponsors.

Might lean away from the NOCO's if ever planning to run AGMs. One of the available charging stages violates the manufacturer's charging requirements.
