Single axle or dual axle brakes

Good day I am in the process of ordering a new 919Pro and was wondering what you all think about dual versus single bakes. Tow vehicle is a Tundra so it has lots of braking capabilities by itself. Also anyone know generally what the cost is.

    Cheers

I think single axle is plenty for full size trucks.

I only have a single on my 919, had the dual on my list of options and the dealer said I didn't need them, I have no problem stopping with a 1500 Silverado, I do get a lot of break dust on my trailer wheels.

If I was spending the money I would get the shocks over the dual brakes. I have the shocks on mine rides great. No problem stopping my 721 behind my Silverado

I have single on my 819 and no issues stopping, but I pull with a F250. I have pulled it with my F150 and it does fine also.

In PA dual are required so I had no choice. I would have gotten them anyway. Less wear and tear on my tow vehicle. The braking effort is the same with single or dual. If single you'll just wear out the pads quicker.

Not sure about Canada but a lot of places require brakes on each axle over 3500lbs. Love my duals vs my buddy’s single

My 2013 has almost every option that you could get on a Phoenix trailer at that time. After four years of ownership, here is my grading of the options:

    Must haves:
    1) Shocks
    2) C-channel
    3) Paint over Gatorhyde - ease of cleaning and always looks good
    4) large front step

    Nice to have:
    1) Stainless steel feeders - still like the look but might not do it again
2)Brakes on second axle - for Florida, I really don't need them and I would not get them again. If I traveled all over the country or in a lot of hilly or mountainous terrains, then I makes more sense
    3) Wheels upgrade - still like the look but might not do it again

    Larger step Yes
    C-Channel Yes
Shocks are going to be included now
I was wondering about the paint is it wearing well. Concerned it will chip off front area
    Passed on Stainless fenders
Truck has lots of stopping power so will pass on the second brakes
Wheel upgrades Yes match my truck

    Thx

No chips in my paint. Well worth it for ease of clean up. Plus you get pinstripes on frame

as far as the paint, so far no chipping but sure it may eventually happen but my buddy's is plain gatorhyde and his is always chalky dirty looking and with the paint the dirt rinses right off,
you can treat the plain gator Hyde with tire shine, 303, or other products to keep it looking good also

Plus one on the pin stripes

You can get covers to stop the dust from getting on the wheels

I don't see how they could make covers to prevent the dust from the brake pads getting on the rims? Do you have a link or pictures?

I’ve had these covers before on a vehicle, they work:

When did they start including shocks? I ask being i ordered dual axle brakes but not the shocks. I knew they were changing the roller to stop the issue of marking up and gouging the bow. My 919 is scheduled to be complete in the factory early November. Did i get lucky and get shocks anyway?
