Paint will chip off easier. Also you don't have to bake them all at one time you can bake 10 today, 10 next week and 10 next month. However, if you don't plan on baking them all at one time, just keep the non-baked painted jigs in a plastic bag to keep the dust off of them.

That should work for basic colors, if i use glitter in the paint i have to bake them longer with way less heat. Do yourself a favor and open up your line tie eyes on the hooks or that paint will bake them shut like concrete.

I have a toaster oven I use to bake mine. I've always gone with 350 for 20 minutes in the toaster oven and had good results. Be sure to clean any paint out of the eyes before baking. If you don't it's a bear getting it out.

You can also cover the hook eye with play dough and after curing it breaks away and you've got a nice clean hook eye.

I was just about to ask about using a toaster oven. Planning on buying some unpainted jigheads to paint and skirt myself. I doubted it was a good idea to use the good oven and was hoping those get hot enough.

Cover the eye with play dough, powder paint, bake, then break the play dough away. I do the same thing to the swivels when I paint my roadrunners.

Thanks for sharing the play doh idea - I have been using with foil tape - silver on one side with adhesive on the back - cut a small square (maybe 1cm x 1cm) and fold it over the jig eye before I paint - heat the head with the tape on - dip in the powder and remove the small tape square - ready to back with a clean eye...
