Are there any restrictions regarding towing with a new vehicle...that is should it be driven a few thousand miles or whatever prior to towing?

It should be in your vehicle owner's manual in the towing section.

Mine says 500 miles before towing... Check your manual... Dan
Usually 500 miles. My current truck had about 10 on it when it towed for the first time. Picked it up at the dealer, went home and hooked up the boat, and headed to the lake...that was almost 80,000 miles ago.

500 miles but with a bass boat I don't think it would hurt anything.
Owner's manual. Anything else is a guess.
Unless you have a lot of hills or mountains I would not think that a bass boat would put much of a load on it anyways.
Isn't some of it the computers needing some miles to "learn" the vehicle?
I always heard it's for the rear end gears to get broke in. Don't want too much heat and load until they get some miles on them. I gave my truck a couple hundred and then towed 10000 worth of dump trailer and it's been fine.
500 miles. That's generally what they say.
New 17 GMC Sierra has 500 without towing and then first 500 towing keep under 50 mph per owners manual. Your owners manual should have all the information in it

New f150 was 1000.
i had a 99 gmc sierra and towed my boat to a tournament when it had 29 miles on it. i don't think i hurt anything as i sold it with 187,000 miles on it 11 years later. as posted above, i believe they want the rear gears to wear in properly.

Mine was 500 before towing and keep it under 50 mph until 1k miles. The trans and rear end are the main concern.
Don't think I ever purchased a truck that did not tow within 500 miles.

my f150 said 1000 miles
I'm pretty sure my ram half tons said not to tow in first 100, and it had more break in info about full throttle till "speed limit" fluctuate speed, gears. I towed all 3 of my brand new trucks at the 175-250 mile mark and all three of mine would stomp my buddys who have the exact same truck the bought used (don't know how it was broken in) similar mileage during races... one thing I wish is it had a couple more heat cycles
