    721 help

Got my new 721 and something don’t seem right to me. I am running a 250 Pro XS with a 26 fury but I can only turn it 5550 rpm and I am running 76 mph. My previous 721 I could turn a 26 fury 5900 to 6000 and got about 78 to 79 out of it. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? That’s with a smart craft gauge. That’s 3/4 tank fuel and all my gear. Should I try a 25 fury??? Thanks

is it the same prop or a new one? ever prop is a little different out of the box, defiantly check the P2P, but you cant be far off.

also were you running 78 this summer or last winter? you will gain some RPMs as it cools down

What year was your other 721. Pre 14 or 15 had a different lower unit and were also a bit more horsepower. Mercury lowered the HP on the newer ones to be a more true 250

It was a 2016 so same lower. I just don’t think that’s enough rpm seems it’s bogging boat. I think a 25 might work better. I will measure prop to pad tomorrow but can’t be off much I don’t think

Only a 1/4” can be a lot....don’t take much to shave speed.

Same with my 721. I was running 77.4 with 3/4 tank of fuel, a ton of tackle, 20+ rods, 26 fury @ 5650 rpm today. I ran the jackplate up and down and that was about all it had. I ran over 80 with over 1/2 tank and lighter on tackle the other day and didn't turn 5800. With 2 people and heavy on tackle, I get 74 @ 5600. I would like to try a 25 again sometime for warmer weather.
