Question 1999 R91 Sport set up.

Bought my boat back in March from the original owner. 200 EFI. He was just a fisherman, no need for jackplates, faster props, or anything else. I'm currently running the Trophy Plus 22p 4 blade that was on it when I bought it. Turning 6,000 rpm's at 63-64mph with just me in it. Usually 60mph with two guys and our tourney load. My motor is mounted in the second hole from the bottom, so it's a little above the normal position.
I just purchased a 24p Fury 3 blade from a bbc member and I'm wondering what to expect with this prop on my boat. I'm leaning towards adding a 6" jackplate over the winter.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Add the plate! I had that exact boat and the plate helped a lot. Gained about 3mph top end if I remember right but made the boat handle much better. I was running a 24 Tempest Plus if I remember right.

You are running to many RPMs for that engine, 5800 max . I'm running a 25 pitch on mine.

I have an older 5 1/2" CMC PL-65. Need to see if I can replace the seal in the bottom of the ram cylinder before putting it on.

    I also ran a 25 on my 2001 R91.

In the process of rebuilding an older CMC PL-65 now. Pump and motor work. Replacing the O rings in the ram cylinder.

Should have the 24 Fury Monday. Should this be ok even without having the jackplate on yet?

    6" plate, 25" Tempest +, C/L prop to pad 3.25".
Haven't seen any R boats with a Fury, probably since a Fury needs to run deeper.

Thanks Tom. I’d like to try a Tempest if I can find a local that has one.

R boats need bow lift to get speed and give the boat a "sporty" feeling. I think that a fury tends to lift the stern.

The hub kit for the Fury should be here today. Hopefully get to try it tomorrow. It’ll be a while before I add the jackplate. Have to change the upper plate on this one to the new style in order to mount the 7050 actuator.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Got it on this evening. Hope to run it tomorrow if the weather holds out. Doesn’t have any PVS plugs in it. But I have a few packs left over from my last boat.

A little advice on the EFI. If you don't know the history on the motor I would extremely recommend that you get the injectors professionally cleaned and flow tested. #1 cause of engine failure in the EFI motor is dirty injectors.

I’m running a 1998 r91 with a 200efi. I have gotten my injectors cleaned and calibrated by European Marine over 1year ago. Also I have removed my oil injection and am mixing my own oil. I have installed a hydraulic jack plate and am running a 25tempest that has been blueprinted I get about 62-64 on average. I have gotten it up to 67 but the boat did not have any weight in it and it was down current .
