LM and Spots on Clarks Hill

Had a pretty good morning on Clarks Hill. A lot of blow ups on top water but not a lot of hookups. Most of catches were on albino fluke.

Benny, Evans is on the bottom end of the lake as soon as you cross into GA. Below Modoc. My daughter and SIL lived in Evans when he was stationed there in the Army. I only fished the bottom end a few times. I usually put in at Hawe Creek.

That's bad news. Look what the spots did to Russell. Tons of 10-12 inch spots but Largemouth are hard to find.

The spots won't take over if we can get the corps and DNR's to leave the Hydrilla alone. As long as there is grass it will be fine but if they kill it off it will suffer big time.

I think the lake is too shallow, more lowland lake, and too warm for the spots to take over. We'll know in a very few years.

Some nice fish you caught there.

The wife and I are seriously looking at buying land on/by Clarks Hill, probably going to spend some time that way this summer fishing/looking on the weekends to see if we like the lake enough. Been to Hartwell many times and the wife loves it, but land is a bit more expensive in my searches.

I hate to say this but the days of 22-25 lbs sacks are about to come to a end for Clarks Hill. Grass has really helped the last few years. The new norm will be 10-12 lbs sack and thats mostly spots with a largemouth.

I talked to someone today that's been fishing the last couple of weeks on the hill and told me he's catching more spots than largemouth now. He doesn't let a spot go, either there eaten or take a ride to the bank to feed the coons. I've caught some magnum spots in Georgia little river before but that wasn't a common thing.

I must be in the minority. I think it will end up being a good spot fishery. Iv already caught quite a few magnums. I love a largemouth, but a magnum spot is fun too!

Considering the lakes that have already gone spots, I wonder if herring makes a lake more conducive to spots.
