    How many set's / rigs?

How many holes can you fish at a time in your state?
Here in Pa. were allowed a total of #5 per person. I usually fish all tip up's when I start then start jigging some holes later in the day depending on the action. If there's 3 or more of us we really mix it up and drill a ton of holes and open up some old ones that aren't frozen over to bad.All with a sharp 7.5 in. hand auger, I might have to get a power 10" in the future. That's the max hole size around here.

2 holes in MN. Now days I usually jig with one and dead stick another. I hardly ever put out a tip up despite owning about 12 of them.

3 in Wisconsin. Usually do 2 tip ups for walleye and jig with the other. If I'm pan fishing I jig with one and set out jaw jackers and have slayed the crappies that way

Never have more than two out myself. A jig and dead stick. If the fishing is gast paced enough I will skip the dead stick all together and just go with the jig.

On inland waters, you can have no more 7 lines, so it can be any combination of tip ups and rods. Canadian bordering waters is 5.

Are Erie and Ontario considered inland? Probably not because of the St Lawrence seaway. Are you allowed more on the lakes ?

Erie, Ontario, and the St Lawrence are border waters so those you can only have 5. Any other lake you can have up to 7 now, they just changed the rule last December. I usually only put 5 tip ups out and jig, anything more is just a pain haha

There was some talk about changing the law in MN so you could have 3 out as long as one was a tipup if you paid more for your license, but nothing ever came of it. As was mentioned, we're stuck with 2 of any type.

I also usually will do the jigging rod and dead-stick set up if I'm fishing for walleye. It's almost always the case that they come in to take a look as a result of the jigging then end up taking the dead stick. Or at least a good portion of fish you catch will do this. If they're really aggressive I'll sometimes jig with one and put something big on a tipup going for a larger fish.

If it's panfish I'll usually jig with one and put out a tipup for pike.
