    My 176 setup

I was trying to run a 25m prop, tach was showing 5800 with the 25m and gps on my phone showed 62.8 mph top end. I had installed a new tach last year because the original tach crapped out, anyway i had some work done on motor and the guy's at the repair shop said that motor did not sound like it was turning more than 5300 rpm's and tach was showing 6,000 till he tapped on it and it dropped back to 5300 rpm's. So i installed another new tach and had Matt Mosher drive it at the TOC and yep she was only turning 5200-5300 rpm's at 55 mph. So we put the 23m back on it and now turning 6,000 at 60 mph gps with just 1 person in it and with me and my son turning about 5800 at 58 mph. Now for the gps on my phone, i found out it doesnt read correctly at times. The other day i was driving my truck and had cruise set at 62 mph and at one point phone said i was running 72 mph, so when running setup verify your testing equipment cause it can have an impact on your readings. By the way Matt had a blast driving the old puddle jumper as he burned up almost half a tank of gas in it, but it was all worth it. Prop to pad is 3 7/8 inch..

I posted this to make everyone aware of instruments can have glitches that can effect the boat setup...

Also Matt discovered by going full trim boat slowed down a couple mph and by running it flatter it was faster..

Nice. I only get in the mid 40's in mine. I've used several GPS readings from phones and FFers and think the speed is accurate but I have always wondered about the tach being correct. Not often but every once in awhile, it definitely reads higher than normal.
