1999 225 Ho idle rising
Hi to all..
I'm seeking some more experience tech advise.
In my outboard start to rising slowly the idle rpm .
Now already around 1000..
Should be somewhere 550-600 if I'm not mistaking..
Possible if I can adjust somewhere on the motor ?
Can cause any fuel stabilizer or something start brake down..
Everybody so busy with the hunting. Boats and winterizing...they taking the boat for more than a week to fix it...
And is muskie season...ahhhh
Help please.

In gear 650 +/- 50 RPM. In neutral ~900 Check your idle timing with a timing light 4* ATDC with warm engine.

My concern is not the high idle..
When I'm shifts to gear from neutral, I'm counting every teeth on the gear and very noisie click when the clutch dog click in..
I'm afraid to wreck the dog and the gears...

That is what the shift interrupt switch is for. It momentarily kills spark to three cylinders to save the gears and clutch dog.

Do not ease it into gear, snap it into gear...when going back to neutral snap it....

Okay , all my fear is gone today..
Went fishing on the evening and just lunched the boat fired up...just park the car and I'm coming back the water is boiling around the motor..
I'm looking the rpm gauge is on 2000 rpm idle..
Wow !!! I was thinking why went up ?
When I just thinking the hot foot stuck down?
I pull the hot foot back and the motor going back to 600 rpm ..idle like a music to my ears ..
And the shifting like butter no grinding noise at all...
My problem was solved..
Just I need to increase the spring tension or grease the cable...
Thanks all the input..
And I caught a 41" muskie..
