I had a 2006 200 Pro XL. It was a great boat, fast, and fished really well.
Unfortunately I only got to use it half the time I had it because the other half of the time the Evinrude E tec that was hung on it was in the shop

Nothing wrong with Stratos, there's quite a few around my area and have known many who've owned them. The ones I've been in have ridden well. Pretty much a middle of the road does everything pretty well kind of boat. A lot of them had Fichts on them in the late 90's early 00's. My first "new" boat would have probably been a 285 but it wouldn't fit in my garage at the time so I went with another route.

Yep it was fast for it time , it had a narrow pad . The new 09 -16 201 Evolution has a lot of the ASX in them and the pad . That's where the speed is in these boat over the older 201's .

I own a 2004 Stratos 285 ProXL since brand new. When the time comes I'll re-power my 2004 Johnson and keep the hull. Great boat.

nothing at all "wrong" with a stratos. my brother in law has an 04 201. good boat, rides well. as many have said, they are not a ranger or a legend. I would put them in the same category as a triton without the chinewalk. my favorite boat of all time is the 94-99 201's.

I was looking at an ASX (sharp boat) and a 294 once upon a time. Was going to sell my old Stratos for one or the other, but....went back to my original obsession and bought my Bullet!

I have a 2007 201, I would bet it will still hang with any boat built today, its been great so far, but the day will come to trade up

No Dan, I didn’t. I love my Bullet. Had a Stratos for 17 yrs (and a few other brands in my life) and now I’m a Bullet guy for life. No regrets.

Good answer, I fished out of the 201's since the year they came out. Don't discount their 400 series Javelin cousins either.

A good used copy can be had for a bargain compared to the others mentioned because they sold for less new. The trailers were not as solid so budget for possible repairs there, the plastic dash inserts, seats, carpets, etc... The hulls were solid if cared for.

Those 2004 eras were the Genmar years. Champions were built in the same plant. There were differences in build processes but most would not be able to pick them out without lifting a topcap.
