    Springfield Pedestals in my Champion

    My front pedestal is an adjustable cylinder type made by Springfield. From looking at Amazon it appears its a spring lock like this -

    https://www.amazon.com/Springfield-S...tal+adjustable

    Is this stock on an '85 Champion? Or was it an after market upgrade? I can't see any part numbers on it at all to match it up on Amazon.

    I just want to be sure I buy the right one.

    Thanks for any tips.

    The seat post hole in your Champ is 1.75". They no longer make that size.
    However, the size now is 1.77". Just a tad too big to fit your Champ.
    What you do is get a barrell sander for your drill and just ream the hole a little bit until new post fits in.
    Some people used a flap wheel sander. Both will work.

    Or you can go the 3/4" pin style post and put an adapter in. You will still have to enlarge the hole for adapter to be tapped in with rubber mallot.

    Sure you don't have a taper lock base? That's what I have in my 1989.

    Agree with ChampioNman. You should have Taper Lock bases in your 85 Champ, unless they were swapped out at some time. Now, Springfield did make a pedestal that looked like a cross between the Taper Lock and the Spring Lock. I had those in my 93. The lock on the bottom is cast metal.

    My '85 has these: Swivl-Eze SP-68914 Base. The post has an end on it like this extension pole: Swivl-Eze SP-28911. Came on it new and are still there.

    Springfield was the OEM up until ChampioN went with R&R

    Yessir, those Springfields' probably are what mine are, The bottom of the seat post you pictured looks like mine. I couldn't find a base in the Springfield line that looked like the ones in my boat, so I assumed the Swivl-Eze were correct.

    My Bad.

    Edit, I found the correct (looking) Base in Springfield. [Cabelas}

    Thank you everyone! Mine is so old that the lady at Springfield couldn't find the part number! We did determine that I have a 2 3/8 taper type.

    That's a Taper Lock ... The pin on the bottom disappeared prior to 1990. My 90 176 pedestals didn't have the pin
