Mercury Motor Issues

I have a 1998, 200hp EFI and I can get the motor to fire. It will run for a little bit and then shut off. I am being told that I need a new ECU because there is a bad signal going to the fuel pump causing the motor to shut down. I am trying to exhaust all options here, sending the ECU off to be tested and possibly repaired, buying a used one, etc. Any recommendations?

My recommendation would be to post this over on the Mercury forum with the serial number of the motor.
There is a wealth of knowledge on those boards.
