    Jackplate

    What are your thoughts or knowledge on the length of setback? What are the advantages of more/less setback?

    Think of the pad of a bass boat as a fulcrum. The farther back from the fulcrum the motor is, the easier it is to lift the bow of the boat. The less horsepower used to lift the bow of the boat, the more horsepower available to push the boat forward, resulting in more speed.

    One other thing to think about outside of the jackplate is do you have enough slack in your cables/wiring/steering cables to accommodate the setback of the jackplate...
