Bass fishing has some surprises. A wiggle wart surprised this 35 inch Northern and a couple hours later another slightly smaller. The same bait also tricked a rather large dogfish and a huge drum.
Oddly, the bass were biting only soft plastics but none were over 15 in. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. The water levels were much higher than recently and the current flow was strong.
These two made a total of 4 northern in the past 6 weeks ... all on a wiggle wart.

You are all invited to Savanna to explore miles of fishable water. For the most part, you can fish unmolested in a seemingly endless offering of structure for largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, walleye, catfish, northern, (drum, dogfish), and more. Recently, even on a tournament day, you are most likely not going to run in to many other fishermen. There are many backwater areas to explore and types of cover to fish.
Overnight lodging is ok but the rates are high. Restaurant choices are a bit limited but available. Savanna would love to see you as the economy has overlooked many small towns. The fishing makes it all worth it in most conditions. Savanna is located about 30 miles south of Galena where there are some nice shopping and touring opportunities for the family.
