My owners manual was accompanied by a letter sent by mercury that contained a sticker to stick over the 6300 rpm limit and replace with a 6000 rpm limit. The letter explained that while the engine was capable of spinning to and only hardware limited to 6300 they recommended propping only to 6000 max.

That being said I don’t think I could spin a 25 fury 4 near 6000 and I trust the 24 recommendation. If the 24 doesn’t work out for me I will try Savage’s bravo suggestion. I appreciate everyone that took time out to assist me.

I'd try a 24" fury 4 and keep the rpm's at 6000 even that should put you at 70-71

I found that to be untrue on my setup, my Fury 4 runs better numbers then my croxton 25 tempest plus.

I went from a 25 Tempest Plus to a fury 4 24p on my Z520 , lost 3-4 MPH loaded heavy , and 1-2 mph light load, turnin 6000-6100 light and 5750-5850 heavy , the whole boat runs higher than ever , even loaded. The holeshot is much better and the way it drives and handles big water at partial throttle is much much better. 67-68 loaded , 70-72 light load. The boat would run 74 light load before but only 5850 tops. Even though I lost a few mph top end , I like the prop.

I do know the guys with lighter hulls are swapping pitch for pitch on the Tempest plus to the Fury 4

Thanks showdawg. How high were you running the tempest to get 74 at 5850. I currently can spin the 25 Tempest to 70.1 light at 5850 and around 68 loaded at 5750. If I can get the same speeds you get with 4 I will be extremely pleased!

I can't give you a propshaft to pad measurement, I have a Bob's Hyd Plate , I do know I was running the Tempest Plus 1.5-1.75" higher than the Fury. My Tempest Plus was worked by Mark. If you have a 250 Pro XS you really need to prop out around 6000 with light load. Your X2 hull should react well with the fury 4 but you might be suprised that you can turn the 25

My A45 Tempest is right at 5,900 at 71mph (holeshot suffers in summer) and Fury 4 is close to same but loses 1-2 mph.

Thanks Meng. Sounds like everyone is giving me extremely similar advice. Did you like the Fury4 over the tempest in aspects other than top end?
