    97 Johnson 225 Venom won't start

I was at the ramp yesterday and it wouldn't start. Got it home and I'm getting fuel. Changed plugs and noticed no spark from #1 plug. # 3 had spark. Any suggestions where to start troubleshooting this? I'm going to make sure my flywheel keyway didn't break. This happened before... It cranks no problem. Thanks.

What’s the best way to check for spark? Hang the plug outside while cranking and check it? That’s what I did with #1

It needs to be grounded to the block. If you have an old plug break off the electrode, and get a worm clamp a piece of wire and a alligator clip. Strip both ends of the wire attach one end and the worm clamp to the treads and the other to the alligator clip. Insert the plug into the plug wire and attach the clip to a suitable ground on the block the lower coil bolt are a good ground point. Crank the motor and check for spark.

Got it fixed today. It was a wire behind the ignition key. The wire was frayed. Thanks for the help...

That's the first thing I'd check for on a no spark condition.
