    Compartment gaskets

2006 TR 196. The gaskets that line the top of the compartments are coming off. Has anyone ever reapplied these? If so what did you use?

I bought them from the Basscat website they are a little thicker than stock but will work very well.

reapplied? I used super glue. Don't know if that's the best thing to use, but I didn't have any other options and needed them stuck. Has worked so far.

Seems like all of mine have came off at one time or the other. I have several now that need attention.

What happens is they stick to the lid and when you open the lid it pulls the gasket up. I have had some luck with putting a light coat of lithium grease on the rubber. Helps keeping them from sticking and if you don't use too much it doesn't create a mess. This isn't a permanent cure as you will have to re coat them from time to time but it does help.

Wouldn't coating them with vaseline work better? it'd keep the tubing from dry rotting too.

I use a polyurethane caulk or adhesive to re-glue mine.

My locker seals come apart, my fix is 3M urethane adhesive from any auto parts. I use mini clamps to secure the repair til cured. There needs to be a better designed seal.

Yes. I’ve always wondered why it’s a stretched piece glued to flat surface. Seems a lip with a u-channel type secured seal should have been better for everyone from the first installer to the last end user.

    Garfish,

Is this the adhesive you're referring to?

You can also get this stuff on Amazon. Check your measurements because it's cheaper to get the 25' section than it is for the 40'
