USA 2000 Yamaha 70hp 2 stoke not charging battery

    Hey guys,

Was told by my local boat shop that my motor isnt charging the battery's while its running. I have a 2000 2 stoke Yamaha. Just want to make sure that the part I would need is called the rectifier and regulator. I wanted to save some money and replace it and order it myself.

    Thanks,

If its another part let me know thanks much

The rectifier/regulator is the most likely part to have failed that results in low electrical output but it could be the stator. Stator feeds electrical power to the R/R. The R/R feeds power to the battery.

Modus operandi is if the R/R does not provide output then check the stator. If the stator is confirmed to be good then the R/R is presumed to have failed and is replaced. One the other hand if the stator is defective then first replace the stator and see what happens.
