    First Time Boat Owner....Prop Suggestions???

    I just got my first bass boat. A 1989 Ranger 363V (17' 10") with a 1989 Mercury V6 XR4 150hp.

What prop would you recommend for recreational fishing, not tournament?

What prop would you recommend for fishing a high elevation lake (7,000 feet) with same motor?

    Thanks,
    Tony

    If you have a 1.78 gear ratio, I'd suggest a 21P Trophy Plus for a 4 blade and a 22P Laser2 for a 3 blade.

This is if you have the 4 1/4 in gearcase.

I had a 361v with a Mercury EFI 150hp and the best prop for me was a 23p Tempest Plus
1992 Gambler Intimidator with a 1998 Mariner Magnum EFI 225

crazy think about this.. Old Boats have usually the Best Prop Designed and used on the Boat from Previous Owner.

This would be my choice also if he has the 4 3/4 in LU and 1.87 gears.

Not true... Most run the original prop type.... Only a small % of guys try to get more out of their boats as new props and designs emerge.

How do I find out if my engine has this?

Any major differences between this engine and mine that would suggest that the Templest Plus 23p would not work on my motor?

    Thank you

crazychuy measure across the rear on the lower unit without the prop on it. Should be 4 1/4" inside small hub or 4 3/4" inside large hub.

Most don't even try to adjust their motor height because the factory or dealer set it right when they hung the motor ten years ago.
