    RT 188 BUNK BOARDS

Has anybody added another set of bunk boards to help with centering the boat while loading. I understand about not backing the trailer to far into the water. When its windy and you are by yourself it would help. Any pictures? Thanks.

BASSTRACKEROPTIMAX did this on his trailer for the same reason. I was having the same issue on my Tracker PT 190TX so I added the 2nd set of short bunks and it corrected the problem. Check his out: http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=411994

I bought a set for my boat from Roy, too. I would highly recommend this mod but don't know if he is still making them. Even on those windy days that sneak up on you after you launch, loading was perfect every time. The additional set of bunks center your hull up farther back on the trailer eliminating the guesswork and the drift.

I thought some rollers or bunks in front of the wheels might work.

I added the EZ glides to my bunks and I just leave the trailer a little further out of the water. This seems to help but you have be careful as your wet boat can slide back while walking to the front before you've winched the boat up.

I have installed sliders and a self-centering roller on the back, still having problems. Tried deeper, shallower etc. It still wants to take off sideways. This is by far the hardest boat to load I have owned. I like the added bunk idea, I am dreading cold water temps, added pressure lol.

If the bunks that come with the boat were a little closer to boat, that would help. Around 3 inches of clearance on both sides. A lot of room for the boat to move.

Reducing your side clearance will help your problem. If your side guides
are adjustable, make the entrance a little wider and closer as you move
forward. An inch on each side is enough. LDS

Sometimes it is easy. Some of the river ramps are uneven, and when windy its hard to get on straight fishing by yourself.

I put Surfix glide bunks on mine & they allow me to leave more of the bunks out of the water, so easier to get boat on trailer.

River ramps can be a challenge. I’ve always left more trailer out of the water and relied more on the winch in those situations.

I leave about 1/2 to 3/4 of the wheel in the water when loading. No problem with wind or current.

I also struggle with loading my RT and I always thought I was an expert at it before this boat. I have been humbled! LOL. Problem is mostly due to the direction the wind that normal blows on my ramp that sits out on a land point. I dread it every time I come in. So bad that I took off the small rear bunks and put a 1" spacer between the bunk and the welded brackets. The spacers took out almost all of the space. Feeling good about what I did, I took the boat out and found out it had little to no improvement. By the time the boat hits those back bunks, the nose is already heading out of line.

I thought about tightening up the space, between the bunks and the boat.

The only thing I have to watch when loading is after it hits the winch stand.. One time I gassed it a little to hard and pushed the truck up the launch pad... But luckily the prop blew out before I flat spotted the truck tires.. Black beast has some torque.

tnbassin, either you use a steeper than typical ramp or you have backed in too far. Have you tried sitting in the middle as the boat loads onto your trailer? My first couple of attempts to load my boat were a bit of a struggle but once I stopped backing in so far I've had no issues what so ever, its an easy to load boat.

Tried sitting in the middle does help. Lot of river ramps very uneven.
