    "Recycling" a Cat

Got a 1996 Pantera that recently just blew up its motor......I don't have the funds to rebuild or repower so I am trying to figure out what to do.

Is the hull and trailer worth anything? Gel coat is in amazing shape, trailer is in great shape, needs seats, carpet eventually and a very small soft spot in the floor. Transom is rock solid. IS it worth anything?

If not where would I take it to recycle it?

Def worth something. Soft spot in floor is not a hard repair. Im sure there is someone who would love to buy it from you. Not sure what its worth but I'd guess at least a couple/few grand.

I should add that it has a complete new seastar pro hydraulic steering system this year, three new interstate batteries, Lowrance HDS 7 TI and Elite 5 at console....7TI is linked to an Elite 7 HDI up front via NMEA 2000 network, 80 lb Fortrex TM, New bearings, seals, races and tires last fall with less than 2,000 miles on them.

Some pictures for reference on the condition (in picture with dog you can see seats cracking and carpet fraying under seat) Those are the only real interior issues

I would think you should be able to get 3-4 grand out of that rig the way it sits. Is the motor re-buildable?

Yes leak down test shows only 9%...problem is it sucked in steel reeds so complete tear down required to remove any particles. Thats way beyond my mechanical abilities.

I paid 2900 for my 1996 Classic with no motor. The interior was in 9/10 condition and came with a minnkota maxxum and decent electronics. The only downfall is the boat has had a few encounters with docks over its years so the gelcoat is in meh shape. It was a great buy as a starter boat but it's certainly not 1 that I am going to keep for too long.

We launch out of there all the time, love Big Green. If you're interested in selling let me know, I'd be a buyer. Would even come and pick her up. I'll shoot you a PM with my number.
