    Best drop shot rod?

I’m upgrading some rods and want to focus on a couple
drop shot rods. What do you all think for a really good quality Rod? Appreciate it.

Most will say the 822 Nrx is the best. I personally prefer the 852 or 872 Nrx either way I’d go with glx or Nrx and be done with it.

Megabass Destroyer Addermine. It is the REAL deal. I drop shot with it on Lake Erie. The sensitivity is there, and the power fighting fish is amazing. I've had a solid 20+ hours with this rod in my hand and I can say nothing I have fished before can compare.

An NRX or GLX is hard to beat as far as sensitivity.

Kistler Z-Bone 7'0" M X-Fast has been a great dropshot setup. Plenty of sensitivity there and fish fighting ability!

I have bounced around the G. Loomis / Shimano line for a while to find the best drop shot rod and have used quite a few models. For me, with a 3/16 or 1/4 oz. weight and a Roboworm Rebarb hook, the best drop shot rod hands down is the NRX 852s. 822 is a little light for my taste but great if you are nose hooking in open water. For me, 852s is as good as it gets.

The Daiwa Steez AGS 7' ML Fast is the ultimate from what I have tried. I also have the MB Orochi XX drop shot which is awesome for a little lighter baits/weights, and the alpha angler dsr is very nice as well for that 3/8oz weight range. But nothing is quite as nice compared to the steez.

It's a classic and it remains in my permanent rotation, primarily in winter and early spring. I actually like this rod better for finesse jerk bait and light treble hook fishing than I do drop shot fishing. When the wind is up and I want to cast a light treble bait into the teeth of that cold wind, this rod is a top choice. No doubt, it's a great drop shot rod too.

Agreed. I don't vertical drop shot as much as cast and drag. The Addermine is incredible, and one fine multi purpose spinning. The NRX 822s DSR is incredibly sensitive too, but in my hands, it's a much better vertical DS rod than a cast and drag rod.

Like others have said the Addermine is an amazing rod, I use it and a NRX 852 and love them both, the 852 is the stiffer rod and works better with heavier weights.

I really like the 852 but I LOVE the Addermine...

    For me
I'd recommended the Kistler Hel 3 or Z-bone
    7' med X-fast

I bought 2 852 NRX's thinking they would be my next DS rods
There's a large following for them
1.) there not as sensitive as the Kistler
2.) the handle is a small dia.
3.) It looks Blaa, Like a 100 Shimano rod

That is interesting... My NRX 852s is night and day better than my Helium 3.

I have 8 or 9 of the 7' x-fast Hel (LTA) and mag rods and it's a day or night thing as well
I'm pissed for paying the money for the NXR's

    I guess were all different

Is price a factor at all? How deep do you plan on drop-shotting? Are you mainly fishing for green or brown fish? Do vertically present mainly or cast and drag?
These all will play into trying to find "that one perfect" drop shot rod as some have mentioned. What are your needs?
Where are the BIG ones? When are we going?
